ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳

On Wednesday, April 30, and Thursday, May 1, senior student-athletes from ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ North and ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ East signed their national letters of intent to compete in collegiate athletics at the NCAA level.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ North celebrated 39 student-athletes committing to 17 different sports, while ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ East recognized 39 athletes across 15 sports. In total, 78 student-athletes from the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ Central School District will continue their academic and athletic careers at colleges and universities across the country.

The district extends its appreciation to the coaches whose dedication and guidance have played a crucial role in helping these student-athletes excel both on and off the field.

This milestone highlights the strength of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s athletic programs and the hard work of its students.

Business Law students from ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ East and ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ North High Schools recently participated in a guided tour of the John P. Cohalan Jr. Court Complex in Central Islip, New York, gaining valuable insight into the workings of the Suffolk County Court System.

During the visit, students explored a courtroom setting and learned about the key roles of individuals such as the prosecutor, defense attorney, judge, jurors, court clerk and court officers. The experience also included a behind-the-scenes look at the Sheriff’s Lock Up and holding cells located between courtrooms.

A highlight of the tour was the opportunity to meet and speak with two judges, who shared their personal journeys into the legal field and explained the education and training required for careers in law. The judges also discussed the role of the district attorney and the arraignment process.

To round out their educational experience, students observed live criminal arraignments, witnessing how charges are formally presented to the accused and learning which offenses are bailable. The visit provided students with an in-depth understanding of courtroom procedures and introduced them to a wide range of legal and civil service career paths available within the court system.

This engaging field trip offered students a meaningful, real-world connection to their Business Law curriculum and inspired many to consider futures in the legal profession.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ East and North students made an impressive showing at the annual Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts (BAFFA) Show in Sayville this past weekend, earning multiple top honors. In a groundbreaking moment for the competition, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ High School East senior Leah Ratto swept every specialty award – a first in BAFFA history.

Under the guidance of Mrs. Wrigley, Ratto earned 1st Place in the Painting category and claimed all four of BAFFA’s major specialty awards:

* 2025 Olivia & Harlan Fischer 2nd Best in Show.
* 2025 Jacqueline C. Palmer Award.
* 2025 Bell Street Artists Scholarship.
* 2025 Women Sharing Art Scholarship.

Other standout ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ artists included:

* Liliana Cirello (HS East, Mrs. DelVallez): 2nd Place in Mixed Media.
* Kim Lee (HS North, Mr. Oswald): 1st Place in Photography.
* Jahzara Reyes (HS North, Mrs. Provini): 2nd Place in Painting.

These talented students exemplify the strength of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳’s fine arts program and the dedication of their teachers. Congratulations to all.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ High School East proudly announces its Class of 2025 valedictorian and salutatorian: Ibrahim Suleman and Krish Vakharia. Both students have demonstrated extraordinary academic success, leadership and service throughout their high school careers.

Valedictorian: Ibrahim Suleman
Ibrahim Suleman, ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ East’s Class of 2025 valedictorian, has excelled academically while making a lasting impact on his school community. He will attend Princeton University on a full scholarship through the prestigious QuestBridge program, where he plans to major in biomedical science/pre-medicine with a minor in creative writing. A leader among his peers, Ibrahim served as class president all four years of high school. He is a Regeneron Top 300 Scholar and was awarded the QuestBridge Quest for Excellence STEM Award. His research on developing sustainable energy sources using biophotovoltaic systems and primitive plants earned him high honors at the Long Island Science Congress. Ibrahim also set a school record in discus throw and served as president of the English and Science honor societies. Beyond academics, he volunteered at Atria Senior Living, Community Solidarity food drives, and as an SAT tutor through Schoolhouse, showcasing his dedication to service and mentorship.

Salutatorian: Krish Vakharia
Krish Vakharia has been named the Class of 2025 salutatorian with a weighted GPA of 105.19 and an unweighted GPA of 98.39. Ranked second out of 471 students, Krish will attend Stony Brook University, where he has been accepted into the Honors College on the pre-medical track with plans to major in chemistry. A National AP Scholar with Honors and an AP Capstone Diploma recipient, Krish also earned awards for Excellence in Foreign Language, the NYS Civic Seal of Readiness, and multiple recognitions for his leadership and commitment on and off the football field. Beyond academics, Krish worked at Farmingville Bagels and Deli, gaining professional and leadership experience, and played on the high school football team from grades 9 through 12. He is an active member of the Farmingville Youth Civics Organization, volunteers at his local temple, and participates in Math, National, Rho Kappa and Science honor societies. His dedication to civic engagement, academic achievement and community service exemplifies the spirit of ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ East.

ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ High School East freshman Jacob Ihne has been selected as one of just 78 young artists to showcase his artwork, “Movement,” in the prestigious Long Island’s Best: Young Artists Exhibition at the Heckscher Museum of Art.

Each year, the Heckscher Museum in Huntington hosts a juried exhibition, inviting high school students to analyze and draw inspiration from works in the museum’s collection to create original pieces. Jacob’s selection reflects his outstanding creativity and artistic talent.

The Long Island’s Best exhibition is open to the public until May 25. Following the museum showcase, Jacob’s piece will travel to be featured in a special exhibition at Mitchel’s in Huntington from May 28 through June 22.
